“I began Friday in the town of Saugerties at Kingsland Editions, a gallery in a former Chinese restaurant on the edge of Esopus Creek, where EJ Hauser and Sara Gates curated the cleverly titled group show Takeaway. Featuring nearly 30 artists, including Katherine Bradford, Duke Riley, and Kenzo Minami, the exhibition showcased experiments in screen printing techniques and multiples. Several compelling silkscreens by Heather Benjamin caught my eye, including ‘Big Cowgirl 1’ (2026) and the vision of a pink goddess-like figure with vulva exposed. A warm welcome from Hauser and Gates turned into a lovely conversation about the joys of connection and collaboration with artists — happening ‘away from the market, with each other, and in nature,’ said Hauser.”
